These terms govern your use of Smetase, run by Emmanuel Oyelowo, based in Lagos, Nigeria, with a small team (“Smetase”, “we”, “us”), on the web and on Telegram. By signing in or chatting with Smetase, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
1. What Smetase is
Smetase combines AI guidance with advisors to help students explore studying abroad: programme matching, planning, interview practice and advisor support.
Smetase is not a school, an embassy, an immigration authority or a law firm. We do not decide admissions or visas, and we do not guarantee any outcome.
2. Your account
- Smetase is for people aged 16 and over. If you are under 18, you need your parent or guardian’s permission to use it. When you click “I agree” in the app or on Telegram, you confirm this.
- Give accurate information about yourself.
- You sign in with Google or Telegram. You are responsible for what happens on your account, so tell us quickly if you think someone else has used it.
- We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put others at risk.
3. Using Smetase
You agree not to:
- misuse the AI, for example to create harmful, unlawful or deceptive content, or to get around usage limits;
- give false documents or information to us, an advisor or a school;
- probe, scrape, disrupt or try to break into the service;
- impersonate anyone, or harass our team or advisors.
To keep quality and costs under control, we limit how much you can use the AI each day. These limits may change.
4. AI guidance and accuracy
The AI can be wrong or out of date. Matches, scores, interview feedback and checklists are guidance, not professional advice. Tuition, fees, deadlines and entry requirements can change, so always confirm with the school or the official source before you apply or pay. You are responsible for your own decisions and applications.
5. Advisors
- Advisors may be members of our team or independent education advisors who work with us. Independent advisors are not our employees.
- We are not responsible for an independent advisor’s advice or conduct beyond what the law requires.
- Any fee an advisor charges you, or any agreement you make with them, is between you and the advisor unless we clearly say otherwise.
- Please keep conversations about your Smetase process inside Smetase, so we can support you and help if something goes wrong.
6. Fees
Smetase is free for students. If we introduce fees, we will tell you before you are charged.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of what you send us. You give us permission to store, process and display it to run the service, including sharing it with an advisor assigned to you and with our service providers, as described in the Privacy Policy. If you create a Study Plan link, anyone with the link can view it.
8. Our property
Smetase’s software, design, branding and content belong to us or the people we license them from. You may use Smetase for your own personal use, but not copy it, resell it or use it to build a competing product.
9. Availability and changes
We work to keep Smetase available, but we cannot promise it will always work or be free of errors. We may change or remove features. We may update these terms; if a change is important we will tell you, and using Smetase afterwards means you accept it.
10. Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, rejected applications or visas, decisions you make based on AI output, or the actions of schools, embassies or independent advisors. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or ₦50,000 if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using Smetase at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing privacy@smetase.com. We handle your data as the Privacy Policy describes.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Lagos State will hear any dispute. Please contact us first at support@smetase.com so we can try to sort it out.
